Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury deliver heavyweight epic, controversial split decision draw

It was one of the most anticipated heavyweight battles in recent memory. It went all the way between the two undefeated fighters, living up to its intense billing.
It ended in a draw.
Deontay Wilder was the unbeaten champion on home soil and had two knockdowns, but Tyson Fury outboxed his opponent over 12 rounds, leading to yet another split decision that has the boxing world torn.
At the end of the day, both fighters had their arms raised in Los Angeles’ Staples Center, with the judges scoring the fight: 115-111 to Wilder, 114-110 to Fury, and a 113-113.
Naturally, both fighters thought they had it won.
“I think, with the two knockdowns, I definitely won the fight,” Wilder said after the bout.
“We poured our hearts out tonight. We both were warriors. We both went hand to hand. But, with those two drops, I feel like I won the fight. I don’t think he had control of the fight. I wasn’t hurt. I came out slow. I rushed my punches.”
Fury, who was returning from a nearly three-year hiatus, was taunting Wilder for much of the fight, sticking his tongue out and putting his hands behind his back in the middle of each round.
While Wilder’s power was on show, Fury’s defence was arguably more impressive and consistent — the champion connecting on just 17 percent of his power shots, after landing 54 percent in his previous eight fights — with the Brit believing he should have won the fight.
“We’re on away soil, I got knocked down twice, but I still believe I won the fight, and I believe every man in here believes I won that fight tonight,” Fury said.
“But I’m showing total professionalism here. I’m a true champion, a true warrior. I went to Germany to fight Klitschko, I came out to America to fight Deontay Wilder.
The world knows the truth. I thought I won the fight.”
The decision was split, and the scorecard showed just that, with each judge seeing every round differently throughout.
FULL CARD RESULTS
Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury — draw; split decision.

Shut Up!!! Yes I Saw Obinim In Heaven But Not As An Angel - Prophet Nigel Gaisie Descends Heavily On Ghanaians -VIDEO

The Prophet clearing the air concerning his revelation about Obinim indicated that yes, he saw Obinim in Heaven but he never saw him among the Angels of God as it has been reported by some bloggers.

But the question is if Obinim claims to be an Angel of God and then you saw him in Heaven in a revelation then logically you may have seen him among the Angels of God ─perhaps Prophet Nigel Gaisie should come clear and explain into details his revelation.

He said a lot in the video ─blasting Ghanaians for rejecting their own Prophets and following Nigerian Prophets.

The man of God added that Ghanaians should just shut up if they don’t understand revelations coming from men of God!

Medikal-Derby-Fella Saga: You Must Learn How To Cook Or He Will Dump You - Wife Of A Plus-

The range of opinions surrounding the Derby-Fella-Medikal triangle are as endless as the stars in the sky, and everyone and their mother has an opinion on the way things are going down.

The wife of controversial rapper and political commentator A Plus, Akosua Vee, is definitely one of those who has something to say concerning the issue.

One of the alleged reasons Medikal dumped Derby, aside from the obvious pressure to get married, was that she allegedly could not cook worth a damn, whilst Fella is a master in the kitchen.

It seems Medikal got just a little tired of chopping KFC and Aunti Munie and decided to go in for Fella who has been making him delicacies in his kitchen.

Commenting on that dynamic, Akosua Vee said women must take a cue and realize that when a guy says he does not care whether you can cook or not, he’s probably not telling the truth.

Writing on Facebook, she said eventually a man is going to dump a lady who can’t cook for one who can — just ask Sister Derby lol.

Check out Akosua’s post below…

“To all my lovely ladies out there, any man who tells you (I don’t look out for a lady who knows how to cook ), sister pls he dey lie ! Daakye ode b3ka wo Asem! NB:when they re seriously in love , they say a whole lot of things till reality hits them! Sister girl Berra know how to cook cz he can’t eat out everyday!!!”

KNUST Saga: Authorities Make ‘U-turn’; Reverse Ban On ‘Morale’, Hall Week Celebrations

KNUST reopens within fourteen days although lecturers have declared an indefinite strike
Fly to New York from $1318. Book now to get the best price.

In what may be described as a ‘victory’ after ‘war’, students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, through their Student Representative Council (SRC), have managed to get leadership of the school to reverse some major decisions they took prior to recent disturbances that hit the school.

Management, among other things, was absolute about combining all hall week celebrations into one, cancelling ‘morale’, centralizing all students’ association accounts and evicting constitutionally elected executives who decided to protest their decision to convert single sex halls to mixed halls by going to court.

Enforcement of one of the bans, cancellation of ‘morale’ however sparked chaos after students decided to hold a vigil on 19th October and were, in the process of being stopped, heckled and manhandled by security officers on the campus, leading to the injury of some 11.

Subsequently, violent protests erupted leading to the destruction of dozens of vehicles and school properties.

The school was shut down in less than 48 hours with all Ghanaian students packing out of campus.

Contrary to previous times when grievances channeled to management were ‘ignored’ as suggested by statements from its student leadership; the SRC, authorities, after recent events have been receptive and more considerate.

A statement signed by SRC President Kelvin Sah indicated that management had lifted the said bans and made decisions reasonably favorable to the students.

According to portions of the statement, “In light of recent events that transpired on campus, the SRC in its continued pursuit of a fasting solution to the impasse between students and university management, we have engaged the management to address the following issues and these are the decision reached on them:”

1. Return to previous hall/college week celebration schedules. All hall celebrations will be celebrated separately.

2. Open engagement with students regularly (Have an open forum with students to get to know their concerns). Also, students will be treated with respect and dignity - unnecessary harassment from any quarters in their residential life will be promptly attended to.

3. Reverse decision to consolidate/centralise all student association accounts.

4. Complete lift of ban on morale.

It further stated that measures had been put in place to breach the strained relationship between students and security personnel and to ensure that no such standoff reoccurs moving forward.

Background

KNUST was shut down indefinitely following riots that rocked the school. Delegations from the Ministry of Education, the Asantehene and other stakeholders, after the incident met with management of the school to have talks and deliberate on the way forward.

The Governing Council of the school was also dissolved and an interim one sworn-in with government directing that the school be reopened within 14-days. Groups all the while were calling for the ‘head’ of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kwasi Obiri Danso, describing his administration as appalling and autocratic and demanding that he be sacked.

Meanwhile, Lecturers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have declared an indefinite strike over the government’s dissolution of the university’s governing council.

The strike takes effect today [Friday, October 26, 2018], although students have left the campus following Monday’s violent protest.

The lecturers said they do not support the government’s arbitrary decision without due consultation with them and also sidelining the Vice Chancellor of the University from the interim council.

Double Track System: Gold Track Reopens Nov. 10
double track system seems to be progressing successfully as the green track will be vacating for the gold track to take over in the second week of November.

According to Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Deputy Minister of Education, the gold track will be going to school on November 10 instead of 8 as announced earlier.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Monday, the Deputy Minister said the change of date is for the various schools to put things in place before the second batch resumes.

“So far everything is going on as planned…” he added.

The green track which was the first batch of students under the double track system reopened school on September 11, 2018.

The double track system introduced in the senior high schools divides the entire student body and staff into two different tracks. So, while one track is in school, the other is on vacation.

The system was a measure to address congestion in senior high schools following the implementation of the Free SHS policy.

How CCTV Helped Police To Catch Tema Suspected Thieves

The police have arrested two suspects in a Gh¢14,000 stealing incident in Tema, following evidence captured by video surveillance.

The suspects, said to be known for notoriously hanging around banks, and following customers who withdraw money to steal from them, were arrested on Friday November 2, 2018 at the meridian cluster of banks in Tema.

The suspects had previously successfully followed a customer, broke into his parked vehicle, took Gh¢14,000 and fled in a silver coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle.

Unknown to them, their operation was successfully captured by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system at the scene of the incident.

A police source told Graphic Online that the victim, Felix Teye Okunnor, a resident of Devtraco Estate at Tema Community 25, reported to the police that he had withdrawn cash of Gh¢14,000 from Ecobank in the meridian area on the said day.

He explained he kept the money under the driver’s seat and drove to Francophone near Ghana Water Company, parked and stepped out to buy a phone.

When he returned to the car, a Toyota Tundra with registration number GT 1031-13, he detected it had been broken into and the money stolen.

Fortunately, the CCTV footage captured a man breaking into the Tundra and was later whisked away by a silver coloured Toyota Corolla with registration number GX-2329-18.

On Friday November 2, 2018 at about 11am, the silver coloured Toyota Corolla was spotted at the meridian cluster of banks with two occupants on board.

Police swiftly moved to arrest the vehicle with the driver Frank Thomas and his accomplice Chequan Michael Mustapha and sent them to station for interrogation.

Police found different dresses and shoes in the boot of the vehicle and also found a number of talisman on the suspects, said to be for protection.

When the police moved with the suspects to their house at Kotobabi number two, eleven Nigerians living in the same apartment were rounded up.

According to the police source, items retrieved from them included eleven laptops, eight assorted mobile phones, four pen drives and a cash of ¢2000.

OFFICIAL: I Am Annulling My Marriage Not Divorcing; Gyan Breaks Silence

Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has finally broken his silence about the discourse over his marriage which has been in the news and public domain within the past week.

Gyan has admitted that his marriage is on the rocks but clarified that the process that is ongoing at the Accra High Court is not a petition for divorce but an annulment process.

What's the Legal Difference Between Annulment and Divorce?

There are two ways to legally end a marriage - annulment and divorce. An annulment is a legal procedure which cancels a marriage between a man and a woman. Annulling a marriage is as though it is completely erased - legally, it declares that the marriage never technically existed and was never valid.

A divorce, or legal dissolution of a marriage, is the ending of a valid marriage between a man and a woman returning both parties to single status with the ability to remarry.

An annulment case can be initiated by either the husband or the wife in the marriage. The party initiating the annulment must prove that he or she has the grounds to do so and if it can be proven, the marriage will be considered null and void by the court. The following is a list of common grounds for annulment and a short explanation of each point:bigamy, forced consent, fraud, marriage prohibited by law, mental illness, mental incapacity, inability to consummate marriage, underage marriage, adultery, desertion and physical/emotional abuse.

He also cautioned media outlets and members of the public against the misinformation being peddled about his marriage.

A statement signed by his lawyer Mr Edwin Kusi Appiah and made exclusively available to Graphic Online today (November 2, 2018) said, “Our client has noted the level of misinformation as well as the veiled and sometimes open attempt to discredit him, his family and or his friends and therefore we write for and on behalf of Mr Asamoah Gyan on matters that have come to his attention because they have been largely publicised and talked about within the media space across the country.”

Background

There has been much talk about the Ghanaian international footballer and Turkey-based Kayserispor attacker in the Ghanaian media space throughout this week that he has sought a divorce from his wife who he married over the past thirteen years and had also asked that a DNA test be ran to determine the real father or otherwise of his children.

Statement

The statement said: “Our client has no interest in discussing his marriage in public but the only correction he wishes to make on the foregoing is that the process that is ongoing at an Accra High Court is not a petition for divorce but an annulment process.”

The statement, therefore, asked the various media houses to be careful about what they publish on the subject in order that the children at the centre of the issue are not stressed.

It further stated that “much as our clients has no interest in discussing his marriage in public, he will hold any person, media or otherwise, to strict account on any or all things that are published about him or his children which are untrue or unpalatable.”

“For all those sections of the media and faceless outlets that have begun some sort of vendetta against our client and his ilk, please consider this letter as one, before action. If you feel inclined to test our clients resolve, then prepare yourself to do as much in the court of law,” the statement added.

Well-wishers

The statement also expressed gratitude to all of Gyan's well-wishers urging them to desist from commenting about his marriage.

“To those with good intentions and loyal fans of our clients, to persons who on their own begun an effort to redeem our client's name, our client expresses his sincere gratitude but will plead nonetheless for them to stop any publications of what is, or not about our client's marriage.”

Nyantakyi Should Accept His Mistakes And Pray For Forgiveness – Songo
Popular Sports Journalist, Patrick Osei Agyemang, affectionately called Countryman Songo has advised embattled former Ghana FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi not to waste his time fighting with FIFA following his lifetime ban from all football-related activities.

Speaking to the Sports Editor of Ghanaweb.com, Daniel Oduro, on Sports Check, the avowed critic of the then Kwesi Nyantakyi-led GFA administration said it would be better for the former CAF Vice President to seek forgiveness from his maker and not destroy the little dignity he has left fighting a battle he can never win.

“Nyantakyi has the right to appeal the decision if he feels it is harsh but I think he will be wasting his time. This is the time for him to sit then, look back and reflect. It is the time to look for your God and ask for forgiveness. In all things, one must look for God and now he needs to let God know that he made a mistake. I mean what are you fighting for? FIFA took a lot of time to do the investigations and they know what they saw. There is no way back for him. He is not coming back into football again. Now is the time to do right by the people he has wronged”, Songo said.

On Tuesday, October 30, FIFA banned Kwesi Nyantakyi from taking part in all football-related activities with immediate effect.

The life ban follows extensive investigations by FIFA's Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee into the conduct of Mr Nyantakyi who was captured in an explosive expose by Ghanaian investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The adjudicatory chamber found Mr Nyantakyi guilty of having violated Article 19 (conflict of interest), Article 21 (Bribery and corruption) and Article 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition.

Mr Nyantakyi has additionally been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs (over GHS 2.4million).

The ban brought to a sad end the glittering career of the man considered as the most successful GFA President in the history of Ghana football.

Nyantakyi reigned as GFA President for 13 years and helped Ghana's Black Stars to qualify for three successive FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014). Nyantakyi rose through the ranks to become the Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He was highly tipped to take over from current CAF President Ahmad Ahmad in the near future.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was initially suspended on June 8 for 90 days by the adjudicatory chamber of Fifa's independent Ethics Committee. The ban was later extended for an additional 45 days on September 6.

We’ll Give A good Account After 4 Years – Nana Addo

President Akufo-Addo is optimistic that his government will give a good account to Ghanaians at the end of the 4-year term in office.

According to him, the good deeds of the government is gradually clearing what he describes as a “mess” left behind by the Mahama government.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of some seven Ministers of State approved by Parliament this week, Nana Akufo Addo urged the ministers to work hard to help the government deliver on its mandate.

He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government during the 2016 electioneering campaign made several promises to Ghanaians and has delivered on some.

He told the government officials to remain focused and work to at delivering on all the other promises.

“We have to work together so that the things that we told the Ghanaian people that got them to give us their confidence and trust we can deliver them. We’ve delivered some, there are still others to go. But if we all continue to work hard and keep our eyes on the ball, I’m very confident that when the 4 years are over we will be able to give a good account of ourselves to the people of Ghana,” he said.

The ministers, who were sworn-in include Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as the Information Minister; Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Evans Opoku Bobie; Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison; Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Abayage; and two other Deputy Ministers  for Eastern Region, Samuel Nuetey Ayertey and for the Brong Ahafo Region, Martin Oti Gyarko

Wendy Shay, real name Wendy Addo is seen in viral video describing a question Joy News’ Presenter Mzgee asked her as “dumb” because she asked her “who is Wendy Shay?” in an interview.

Mzgee had an interview backstage after Wendy Shay’s performance at the FB Suma@10 Ghana Connect concert which took place inside the Fantasy Dome on Saturday October 27, 2018 and it appears, the Singer was not in her best mood.

Open Letter To Students Loan Trust Fund; You Are Now Frustrating Students!

I write to you with a deeply seated yet unaired frustration in the hearts of countless beneficiaries of your scheme. A frustration with enough flames to burn down the hopes and prospects of many beneficiaries which your vision statement does not only seeks to inspire but unleash.

October is "dead" yet beneficiaries are yet to hear any news about disbursements for the 2018/2019 academic year. Hmmmmm! When school resumed about two months ago, students were hopeful of getting disbursements to enable them to pay for their fees and register for their semester courses as has always been the case but this was not forthcoming. I still remember one of your goals; loan disbursements in two weeks! Or it has suddenly been changed to loan disbursement in two months?

Worried ones including myself made enquiries at the appropriate quarters to settle our uncertainty. To my surprise, I was told your outfit now operates with a new regulation which requires students to register for their semester courses to show they are still students before they can be paid.

This means students would have to find money somewhere (an alternative they didn't have and so ascribed to your scheme) to pay their fees so they can register for the semester courses before they can access the loan.

Permit me to ask a number of questions:

1.If the student had that alternative source of getting money to pay for his or her fees why will he ascribe to the loan in the first place?

2. Have we forgotten that majority of these less privileged students who are on the students' loan mostly solely depend on that to finance their education?

3. If it's now required that students have to pay their fees, register before they can access the loan, what happens to the chunk of beneficiaries who have no other source of funding and for that reason ascribed to the scheme?

Let me put on hold, for now, my endless questions.

But come to think of it, the reason behind this whole new policy I was told from the National Headquarters when I called for further clarifications was to curb the situation where some students who probably might have stopped schooling but still get paid. For once I felt that was a genuine reason. At least beneficiaries should still be students. But after giving it another thought I realized it was not as I initially thought.

Let me ask my second batch of questions on the reason for the new regulation:

1.Why do students require a guarantor before they can be given the loan? Is it not for purposes of repayment if the beneficiary fails to pay back? Let me quote Section 23 paragraph 2 of the Students Loan Trust Fund Act 2011 Act 820 which states "where the borrower fails to pay the loan granted by the Board, the guarantor of the loan is liable to pay the loan and the Board shall issue a certificate of payment for the guarantor on full payment."

So what is the problem again?

2.On the main reason for this new regulation (thus dropped out students getting paid) let me once again quote Section 23 paragraph 1 of the same Act which says "a borrower who withdraws from an accredited tertiary programme or is dismissed from an institution, is liable to pay the loan granted for the studies in that institution." Has this been reviewed? Or it's not a sufficient mechanism?

3.How many are even these students who stop school but are still paid by the scheme? Are they not just a tiny fraction of students when compared to the total number of beneficiaries?

4.So why will a policy be drawn which hurts many because of a tiny number of people? A good regulation is one the benefits the majority!

I got more heartbroken when I decided to read your mission statement. Honestly speaking your new policy is in sharp contradiction with what is supposed to guide your policy regulations.

Your mission has remained; to provide TIMELY financial SERVICES  to eligible Ghanaian tertiary students. Just maybe your outfit has a different definition for the word timely but if it is what we all know then I do not think two months after students have been in school but yet to receive any disbursements is anything to call timely. Almost all universities have closed registration of courses for the semester. What is the fate of those students who are on campus but are still struggling to raise any money to pay their fees?

I do not know the level of trauma some students in other universities went through and how it was handled. At the University of Cape Coast where I school, if not for the kind intervention of the SRC and the Local NUGS office, at least 300 students loan beneficiaries would have had their education painfully curtailed. They had absolutely nothing on them to pay their fees and only looked up to your scheme but to no avail. They were all in good academic standing too. The SRC had to plead with management to allow beneficiaries who had no other alternative raising any money for their fees to register for their courses without making any deposit just so they can meet your new regulation of "pay your fees and register  before you can get paid".

You have swayed from your goals. Your new policy regulation will no longer get students the funds they need for their tuition and hostel fees as you have in your goals.

The hard truth is that your new regulation has put beneficiaries in a more difficult position. The very struggle they faced and sought cover from your outfit is the same struggle your new regulation is sending them back to.

Let's look at this scenario in case you still don't understand the new regulation. This is what the new regulation looks like, I need money to buy something and because I don't have money I have come to apply for a loan from you. You have agreed to give me the loan after I met all your requirements. Now you are telling me that before I can get the loan, I have to buy the 'something' before you can give me the loan. Isn't it just a funny thing to do?

What it means is that if this year only 100 beneficiaries out of say a total of 500 beneficiaries in a school can afford to pay their fees from other sources available to them and register before they get the loan disbursement, the rest of the 400 would have no option than to either defer their program of study or withdraw from the school. I don't think this is what we want as a country and as a scheme.

I think out of frustration I am writing too long. I have said enough. I am not sure the scheme would be serving its purpose if we hold onto the new regulation. We need a revision of that new regulation now.

The level of frustration has reached its apogee!
